Making Image Templates
1. Open a new file and designate your desired size. For this example I chose 100 x 100 pixels. Make sure that your image is transparent. It should look like this:

2. Select the color black as a foreground color. Now select the Pencil Tool and chose a 1 pixel size like so:

3. Next, just draw whatever shape comes to mind. Squares, circles , rectangles, hearts…

4. My finished example looked like this.

5. Now, to save the image and to make all the transparent areas transparent in all backgrounds, make sure that you have no background layer. Simply put, you should only have one layer. Then, go to File > Save for Web. Select a color matte for your new image (I choose bright green) and check the Transparency box. Then click Save. The image will be automatically saved as a GIF file and there you have your new template!
