My Job Options

A friend of mine handed his resignation today. Another will hand hers in a few days. And another has already been accepted to another company. What is this, you ask, a countdown?

Perhaps.

We were 12 new employees hired January of last year. Currently, only six of us are left, and, including the ones I mentioned above, that leaves us with 3 employees left from our batch. And one of those is me.

I never knew it was such a scary thing to be left behind, when those around you who have been with you from the start are leaving one by one. I was so scared at first that I panicked. What if I was the only one left? What if I got stuck here forever?

That’s when my common sense kicked my behind really hard and told me to calm myself. I make my destiny. The ultimate road I take will be based on my decisions and mine alone. It doesn’t rely on other people; the burden lies only on me. I can make or break myself, if I so choose.

I had a job interview last week and I was really impressed on the job scope I was applying for. It not only had my chosen field of engineering, it also incorporated my hobby of programming as well. I then knew that I really wanted that job.

The interviewer expressed that the job might take me to certain provinces in the Philippines. Surprisingly, I didn’t mind that at all because it involved supervising the manufacturing and actual assembly of the machines designed.

Normally I don’t apply for jobs that will be quite far from my home. If the job involves more than 2 cities from my hometown, I don’t bother applying. So it’s a fair conclusion that I didn’t mind that job scope at all.

I was set to be interviewed again the next day, but the manager couldn’t make it and we had to reschedule. They said they will inform me on the next interview.

So I am now eagerly awaiting that phone call. Mayhaps biting my nails in anticipation even.
