Cute Layout?!

imageOh gawds. New layout! *trumpets blaring* It took up the better half of the day in making this new layout. Not because of the graphics, mind you. Again, it was my failing in CSS. I even asked Michan on how to get it right but in the end I remembered that I made something similar in a previous site I had before. *kicks self*

My feeling towards the new layout? I want to smoosh it! Yes, there’s no such word, so bear with me. The inspiration for this had been a long time coming, with browsing on a whole lot of sites for inspiration and even pictures. The cat pictures you saw before are the unfortunate products of my designing block. I even rummaged through my stash of stationeries, which horrifies me to admit that I still have today. And in truth the layout does remind me of a stationery letterhead. ^^

Sidenote: I still haven’t figured out something witty to put in the Girl section up top. Poke me if you have any ideas. And, though I’ve already checked them, if there are some areas that look awry, let me know.

So is there a purpose for this rant? Well, I still have an addition, no matter how measly. Here’s an avatar of Tamaki Suou of Ouran Koukou Host Club. ^^

Password Protected Documents

Clover CLAMP avatar

My paranoia has finally backfired on me. A few years back, I wrote some stories and poems during a burst of inspiration. Being paranoid that someone from my household will read them, I sealed them in a password protected document in Word. One can’t open them if they didn’t know the password.

I left the written works for a few years and now that I have found them again, I wanted to read them again and possibly post them here. There’s only one problem.

I forgot the password myself.

Dang. So now I’m in a quandary on how to open them. Does anyone know how to open password-protected documents in MS Word?

Wordpress, MySQL and Hosting

Full Moon wo Sagashite

My day didn’t start out right as I wanted it to be. If was frustration after frustration, piling up as if taunting me to keep up my good mood for the rest of the day. Bear with me as I list them. Beware; random and excessive ranting will ensue.

Wordpress launched a new update, version 2.1
This should be good news you say? It would have been, if not for the fact that they release a new update too just a week ago, and a new update again 10 days before that. WTF?! Are they planning on releasing a new update every week?! I don’t think I have to time to delete and re-upload my files every week just for the update. >.<
My host doesn’t have MySQL 4 yet.
Imagine my irritation when, after much deliberating on upgrading Wordpress and deleting and uploading the upgrade files, that our host doesn’t support MySQL yet. And the new version of WP only runs on MySQL 4! So I had to delete the files, again. And upload a previous version, again.
Winglica consumed 24gb of bandwidth for January
Another good thing? It would have been if the bandwidth was consumed by visitors viewing the sites. But no. Damn googlebot wanted to suck our bandwidth dry.
I need to pay extra for Winglica
With relation to the MySQL 4 issue, I contacted my host about it and he said that since our hosting plan now is on Plesk, it’ll be very hard to upgrade the MySQL version since Plesk is a very inflexible system. They offered us to upgrade to a hosting plan that uses Cpanel but that would mean we have to pay extra. T_T Oh, gawds. Money.
Paypal hates me
Again, with relation to the above, I tried to withdraw the donation of someone to Winglica a while back so that we’ll get the necessary funds to pay for the upgrade. As I was withdrawing the funds in paypal, it says that I had limited access and that I had to verify my billing address and all that. *kicks paypal* Didn’t you verify my account already when you confirmed by bank account?!
