Nodame Cantabile

nodame cantabileTop piano student Chiaki Shin’ichi aspires to become a conductor, but his travel phobia prevents him from acquiring greater exposure overseas even though he should have no problems in getting scholarships. While he feels his musical career is in stalemate, he meets Nodame, a girl from the same university. Though she is also a music genius, she is everything he is not - carefree, messy, chaotic. They may run into conflicts, but they also make perfect complements for each other!

My comments? *ties hands to prevent from overreacting* Watch it! Watch it! I swear, I’ve never been a fan of instrumentals, much less classical music so for me to love this really wacky and endearing series is quite a surprise. I could rave a lot about it, and I know that given a chance I would, so I’ll just say, go watch it!

Shinobi - Heart Under Blade

Shinobi movieMuch to Jas’s relief, I’ve finally got time to watch the Asian movie Shinobi, which features Nakame Yukie from Gokusen and The Ring fame.

Verdict? Watch it! It’s set in the Tokugawa period, where Tokugawa just got himself seated as the new Shogun so things are still shaky and he needs to solidify his position. That’s where the Shinobi come in, for they are warriors of great and mystical powers. Each one has their own special technique. One warrior even reminded me of Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII! XD

It’s also has a romantic element of star-crossed lovers. Plus, the story made me teary-eyed in the end. T_T

Kyou Kara Maoh

Kyou Kara Maou God save our kingThis whole week has been a marathon to finish the first 39 episode of Kyou Kara Maou (God Save Our King). I’m inserting it in between my japanese studies. Heck, it is part of my japanese studies! XD

It has some definite funny moments and was very lighthearted during the beginning but towards the 25th episode or so, things got heavy. Political and personal issues abound. There are also some very, very obvious hints of yaoi going on. Well, as can be expected from a series with full of bishounens. ^^ I already got my favorite pegged down.

I’m only halfway through the series with a whopping 79(?) episodes on its belt. I wonder what the rest of the episodes will reveal. Well, I guess I can’t really say I’m slacking off on my japanese language studies since I’m watching the entire series in the original Japanese dun.

がんばりますよ!
