My virtual Palm pet is now 40 years old. My God! He’s much older than me! Shouldn’t he be dead by now? Or at the very least, in a mid-life crisis (if dogs have mid-life crises). How long is a dog’s lifespan anyway?

I’m such a good virtual pet owner.

The average dog in the US lives to be 11 years old. So my virtual dog is much, much older! I think there’s a bug in the Palm program somewhere. *scratches head*

My pet is now 24 years old, even older than me. He seems so old and tired that he just lays around or sits beside his food bowl.

I try to cheer him up and pet him and he seems happy that he tries to smile even though he’s tired.

My very first palm pet died today. Cause of death? Drug overdose.

His name was Eggo and he had a fuzzy brown coat with white spots all over. He liked to sleep a lot, like me. He became quite active during night time, like me. He liked chewing his toys, like… no one I know.

He became sick earlier so I gave him the shot. He still felt sick so I gave him another. I went back after an hour and he was still sick so I gave him another shot. The next thing I knew the screen says he’s dead and the cause of death was drug overdose. He was only two years old.

What a pet! He even managed to die like a rock star.

So now I have a new pet. I named him Haru and he’s pure white all over. I swear, I’ll take really good care of him this time. I named him Haru so that I’ll feel quilty if I don’t take care of him. I love Haru (my pet and his namesake). =)
