Fan-parent

shinshi doumei cross avatarI honestly don’t think people know how to find me on the web since Painted Wings vanished. Well, people who I am not all that close to, that is; and those I could count in one hand. So I’m not really surprised that no one finds me in my little corner of the web here.

What surprises me though, is when I am found.

A parent appreciating my site? Impossible! Michan called him a fanparent, as opposed to the more common fangirl term on the web. She says it’s going to be a new fad. ^^

I didn’t really know how to reply to such a letter; if my letter will be as compelling as the comment sent. But I did reply a day later, endeavouring in my effort to do justice to it. One thing was the goal, though. To reply as sincerely and as humbly to a person- more importanly, a parent- who came to this site and make his day a little bit brighter, just as he has done for mine.

Upgrade, or not to Updgrade?

October 31st, 2006 | 1 Comment

Because of my absence in the web for the past days due to a sudden fever, I didn’t get to see the announcement for the new release of WordPress 2.0.5 till today, three days after the fact. Nevertheless, I went to the site to download the latest version and read the instructions on how to upgrade from my current version.

Well, safe to say that I won’t be upgrading my WordPress any day this week.

A small minority of WP users have experienced 500 Internal Server error messages after upgrading to 2.0.5. For a fix see server 500 error fix.

Freedom!

October 24th, 2006 | Comments

Finally! Freedom! I made a new theme because I really wanted a new one; something bright and fun! It wasn’t my intention to make one. It just happened as I was creating a freeware layout for the anime series Chobits. I loved the color scheme I used in that web layout so the next thing I knew, I was creating a new layout for Swordian.

Unlike the previous Swordian themes, this one is less graphically oriented; it is focused more on color schemes and typography – the reason for the various font styles, and why I deviated from my Verdana-adamant self. I only knew now that the numbers in Georgia font get depressed on web layouts. ^^

I’ll tweak it a bit partly because the date section looks a bit awkward for me. I’m uploading it as is, though I tested it offline in both IE and Firefox, I don’t know if there will be some bugs. If there are, I’ll take care of them tomorrow. Too lazy tonight. ^^
