Slicing Databases
There comes a time in a web programmer (namely, me) where I’d like to slice databases like there is no tomorrow. What does that suppose to mean?
I ask myself, ‘If there are free web templates sites out there, why can’t there be a site which offers free PHP and mysql web site templates?’ And then of course, sanity kicks in.
Well, coding is rewarding work, especially if you see your program up and running smoothly. What is frustrating is the amount of patience you have to exercise to get it. I sometimes spend several hours working on a script that seems to defy my every command. I feel like tearing my hair out from its roots would be at least a pleasant thing.
What do I do in these circumstances?
I sleep.
And the crowd gasps in outrage.
Well, I do! I’ve proven that all I need is rest and a fresh and clear mind before tackling the coding problem for me to see that the problem I saw before was just something minor. Nothing like rest and relaxation for the brain.
So if you ever get to feel like giving up on a programming problem, sleep it off and then come back and review your work with a fresh and clear head. It works wonders.
