She tried to look around at her unfamiliar surroundings and got as far as opening her eyes before she closed them again against a blinding white light.
“Why am I here?” she wondered to herself. She recalled being inside some kind of vehicle, struggling to maneuver it against an entity bent on her destruction, terrifying her more than anything in her life. She didn’t know what it was or why it was there. All she knew was that she had to get away. That her life depended on it.
She remembered sparks flying and the smell of metal burning, suffocating her. Recalled the sound of a crash and her body slamming against something hard that almost knocked her unconscious. With the pain she felt she almost wished she was unconscious. She remembered the sound of water rushing inside the vehicle. Her last breath before the calming blackness overcame her soul. The feel of tranquilly floating before she succumbed herself into an endless abyss.
She felt a chill and shuddered. No! She was not going to cry. She was not! But in spite of her determination she felt tears sting her eyes. She tried to run away from it. That tragic realization that kept pushing through her soul which her rational mind kept rejecting. There was no doubt about it. No use in denying it. She was dead.
Author’s Notes:
Mmm. . . I was deliberating whether to include a prologue or not and decided to. As the story progresses you’ll see why. ^_^
